Life is more than names, dates and places. Occupations put ancestor's lives into context. After the Civil War, Black employment was limited to land, service and manual labor. Investigating our ancestor's jobs and industries reveals what their life was like on a daily basis. This helps understand their lives and may turn up employee records. It will also make the family history more readable.
