The process of applying for a homestead left an extensive paper trail. These files contain a goldmine of information and clues about your ancestors' lives. They can add depth to your relatives' stories. Learn how to identify potential homesteading ancestors; the process & requirements of making a homestead claim; the different kinds of homestead laws; and how to obtain, organize and analyze these files.
