Mapping the Freedmen's Bureau - Understanding the Website

Presenter: Angela Walton-Raji, BA, MEd


This workshop will provide an overview to the website and will show attendees how to find families in the south after the Civil War. Methods of finding records from the Freedmen's Bureau will be featured including the two main websites where Bureau records are found. This session will also highlight other maps found on the website, including the Freedman’s Bank, Freedmen’s hospitals & more.

Level:
Beginner. Just starting to do family history., Intermediate. Online database savvy and can locate/read deeds, vital records, wills, and church records.
