Documenting Women in the Civil War

Women served in the Civil War, leaving behind more than simple stories. An enormous untapped source of serve records of these brave women is found at the National Archives. These women were hired as nurses matrons, laundresses and cooks, and were from all backgrounds and social classes. Their records are at the National Archives and this session will explain how to find them.
